TATTOOS
Do I need to make an appointment or do you take walk-ins?
Walk-ins are always welcome, but bear in mind the artist may be busy with other clients. If your idea is complex, it may be a good idea to stop by and schedule an appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
Appointments are best made, in person, in the shop, with the artist you would like to do your tattoo.
I am under 18, can my parents sign for me?
Sorry, in California, the legal age to be tattooed is 18 - no parental consent, no exceptions.
*If you find someone willing to tattoo you underage, this should make you think what other shortcuts they may be taking.
How long do I need to stay out of the water?
As it long as it takes your tattoo to heal - usually 10 days to 2 weeks depending upon the individual.
How much will my tattoo cost?
This is usually based upon size and location, once you speak to an artist in person, they can can give you an estimate before the tattoo is started.
What health and safety precautions do you take?
All of our needles are new and pre-sterilized. They are used for your tattoo session only and then disposed of. Everything comes from clean and sterile packages. The tubes we use are surgically cleaned and sterilized in a certified autoclave.
The inks we use are poured into single use disposable cups. Once your tattoo session is finished, the cup and the left over ink are disposed of - it is NEVER re-used or poured back into the container.
Everything else that may come into contact with your tattoo - counter surface and equipment - is covered with plastic to prevent cross-contamination. The plastic is disposed of at the end of your session.
PIERCINGS
How old do you have to be to get a piercing?
With the piercers discretion, you can be any age, as long as you and your parent (or legal guardian) both have a valid ID (school, state, military, or passport).
Do I need to make an appointment for a piercing?
No, but it is a good idea to call before you come down to make sure the piercer is available.
Does it hurt?
All piercings can hurt, but just for a brief second.
What do you recommend for piercing aftercare?
Sterile saline and fresh water are all you want to use. Harsh chemicals like hydrogen peroxide rubbing alcohol, ear care solution, Bactine, Neosporin and soaps can all irritate your piercings and prevent them from healing.
How long does it take to heal?
It will vary depending upon where you get pierced, but in general expect it to take at least three months to heal completely.
How long do I need to stay out of the pool, hot tub or ocean?
We suggest at least two weeks, but the longer the better. Pools and/or the ocean can dry out or irritate new piercings. You should rinse the piercing out thoroughly with fresh water after you get out for the first few months.
Can I use my own jewelry?
For your initial piercing, we recommend internally threaded, good quality jewelry only. We have a large selection for you to choose from.
